A/L examinations commence today!  

The GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination commenced today (07) at 2,438 examination centres.

Three hundred and forty five thousand two hundred and forty two (345,240) candidates are sitting for the examination this time and out of which two hundred and seventy nine thousand one hundred and forty one (279,141) are school candidates.

Twenty-nine specialized centers have been set up near hospitals at the district level for children infected with Covid-19.

Children infected with the virus must sit for the examination from a hospital or intermediate treatment center within approximately seven days, and the Commissioner General of Examinations, L.M.D. Dharmasena said that the examination centre mentioned on their admission card is not relevant for such children.

The Commissioner General of Examinations also said that students who have completed their treatment as well as those who show symptoms of Covid-19 will be facilitated to sit for the examination from a special room reserved at all the examination centers.

He also said that a special request has been made to the Ceylon Electricity Board to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the duration of the examination.
