Sept 10, Colombo: Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara said that 1,125 visas are ready to promptly send Korean job candidates quickly to South Korea and measures will be taken to send 250 workers per week to Korea.
The Minister made this disclosure when he chaired a special meeting yesterday (09) at the Foreign Employment Bureau with the officers of the Korean Human Resources Department, the officers of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau and the Korean job candidates to discuss the problems of the Korean job candidates. .
The Minister said that necessary steps have already been taken to prevent the delays in applying for visas for Korean job seekers and for that the Foreign Employment Bureau has been audited and measures have been taken to provide them with targets and incentives.
The Minister further said that a new center with more facilities will be provided for conducting Korean exams, and that he is negotiating with the Korean Human Resources Department to increase Korean job opportunities in the coming year.
Foreign Employment, Bureau Chairman Mahendra Kumarasinghe, Director of Korea Human Resource Development Institute Mr. Lee Joo-Chul, Bureau General Manager D.D.P. Senanayake and Deputy General Manager (Training) P.G.G.S. Yapa and other senior management officials participated in the discussion.
