Sources state that several high officials of the Ministry of Health will be transferred, due to the low involvement in Covid-19 prevention activities.
Among those slated for transfer is Dr. Asela Gunawardene, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), for inadequate contribution.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has explained the matter to the Health Services Director during Covid-19 Task Force meetings.
Sources say Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva, currently the Secretary to the State Ministry of Backwards Rural Areas Development, Domestic Animal Husbandry & Minor Economic Crop Cultivation would be appointed to the post.
He also serves as the Secretary to the State Ministry for Covid Disease Control and is the Deputy Director General (Health Services 2) of the Ministry of Health.
Directors of two leading hospitals in Colombo and Gampaha districts are also slated to be transferred.
