A brother and sister from Mullegama in Nawagaththegama area have been hacked to death.
According to the police, the murder is the result of a family dispute.
The incident had occurred when the husband had attacked the older brother of his wife with a sharp weapon when he had come to resolve a dispute between the husband and wife.
The husband had also hacked his wife to death during the altercation, the police said.
The victims are a 32-year-old and his 25-year-old younger sister.
The suspect had been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital with injuries sustained during the dispute and is receiving treatment under police protection.
