The Senior DIGs in charge of the Western and Southern Provinces have been instructed to continue implementing special operations to combat organized crimes, Public Security Ministry Secretary S. Hettiarachi said.
Mr. Hettiarachi said the Ministry has decided to offer cash rewards to people who provide information on concealed firearms, and the amount of the cash rewards will be announced in the future.
The secretary said that steps have been taken to use armed officials and special police vehicles in this regard.
He further said that these murders and other crimes are being conducted by underworld gang members residing abroad.
The Ministry Secretary said that several firearms used in killings and shootings have been seized by the Police Special Task Force officials.
