Rohitha Rajapaksa (Chichi), the youngest son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was playing for the first time in an inter-club ODI series, was dismissed without scoring today (27).
The inter-club one day match was played between the Kalutara Sports Club and the Navy team.
Chichi entered the field as the opening batsman for the Kalutara Sports Club but was dismissed LBW by Vishwa Fernando.
Umpire Nilan de Silva gave the LBW ruling.
That was the first ball faced by Rohitha and although the Kalutara Sports Club won the match, his fielding was also very weak.
However, media reports that Rohitha had turned to inter-club cricket in order to get involved in cricket administration, was denied.
It is mandatory to have played domestic cricket in order to join cricket administration.
On previous occasions, Tyrone Fernando and Priyath Bandu Wickrama had also engaged in domestic inter-club cricket in order to get involved in cricket administration.
However, Tyrone Fernando had later joined cricket administration but, Priyath Bandu has so far not got involved in cricket administration.
Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka team Captain Angelo Mathews joined the inter-club match today. He is participating in a cricket match after several months.
He scored 45 runs for his team in their match against the Galle Sports Club.
