

A further 2.3 million doses of the Chinese manufactured Sinopharm vaccine reached Sri Lanka today (28).
300,000 doses of the vaccine were donated by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army while the remaining two million doses were purchased by the Sri Lankan government.
The consignment arrived on SriLankan Airlines UL 869 from Beijing, China and landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 5.20 this morning.
The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka in a press release said the number of Sinopharm vaccine doses received by Sri Lanka will increase to 18 million with seven million doses supplied by China in the month of August.
Secretary of Defence Kamal Gunaratne and Army Commander Shavendra Silva and other government officials were present at BIA to welcome the consignment.
