Chinese Foreign Minister to meet Sri Lanka’s top leaders today

Jan 09, Colombo: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived in Sri Lanka Saturday on a two-day visit, is scheduled to meet the country’s top leadership for bilateral talks today.
The Chinese Foreign Minister accompanied by 18 delegates arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka last night on a special flight. He was warmly received by Minister Namal Rajapaksa and State Minister D.V. Chanaka.
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning. Bilateral talks will be held between the President and the Chinese Foreign Minister.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi will also meet Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today and engage in an observation tour of China-built Port City of Colombo.
The Prime Minister and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will also attend a ceremony to open a part of the common lane reserved for the public in the Colombo Port City.
Foreign Minister Wang’s visit to Sri Lanka comes at the 65th anniversary of China-Sri Lanka diplomatic relations, and the 70th anniversary of the Rubber-Rice Pact.
During the visit, the Chinese Foreign Minister will participate in events commemorating the 65th anniversary of Sino-Sri Lankan diplomatic relations.
