The Covid-19 Bill (2019) is scheduled to be taken up for debate in parliament today (17), where it will be voted on and passed as an Act.
This Act will set the framework for the continuity of Courts, and other official matters during the pandemic.
2 amendments to the Manufacturing Tax (Special provisions) Act and Customs Act (235) are also scheduled for debate, according to Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake.
The postponement debate, proposed by the ruling party will be taken up between 4.50 pm to 5.30 pm.
The Executive Council has decided to convene parliament only once this week (today) due to the Covid-19 situation in the country.
Parliament will convene at 10 am today.
