Covid clusters have been detected from five districts of the country, said the Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena.
Speaking to the media yesterday (18) he said that such clusters have been identified from Anuradhapura, Ampara, Hambantota, Matara and Galle districts.
He said this situation has been created due to weddings, religious functions and other festivals being held in different areas in violation of health guidelines.
He further warned that it would not be able to control these clusters if public meetings continue to be held in violation of health guidelines in this manner and a dangerous situation could arise.
Risk of country facing a lockdown during festive season?
Meanwhile, the President of the Public Health Inspectors Association Upul Rohana has said that if the people do not act responsibly, there is a risk of the country being locked down again during the upcoming festive season.
He also pointed out that people who travel to different areas on trips during weekends do not follow proper health advice.
