Former President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) – Thilanga Sumathipala says that the current situation of the national cricket team is saddening to see.
Joining a programme on a YouTube channel, he said that there is no national plan with regard to cricket in the country and that the sport has become entirely politicized.
Mr. Sumathipala noted that national plans existed during all of his tenures as the SLC President. “In 1995, 1998, 2003 and finally in 2016, I contributed to formulate these national plans and we implemented them correctly. However, it was unable to implement them in full due to various ministers appointing interim committees,” he added.
