Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says the curfew will be lifted and the country will be reopened on the 1st of October subject to restrictions.
While on a visit to the District General Hospital in Nawalapitiya today to inquire into future developments, Minister Rambukwella said statistics show that the risk of the spread of the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka has been brought under control.
The Minister said a special meeting will be held in the next few days pertaining to the reopening of the country and steps will be taken to reopen the country under restrictions as per decisions reached at the discussion.
He said the final decision will be reached by the 30th adding they are monitoring the situation closely.
The Health Minister also claimed that the country has reached among the top three countries on fully vaccinated individuals above the age of 30 years.
Minister Rambukwella said vaccination of individuals between the ages of 20 and 29 have also commenced, while infection rates and fatalities have also reduced. He said everyone must act according to health guidelines in order to defeat the pandemic.
