Damage to Ranil’s car 191 million!

The Attorney General informed the court yesterday (10) that the damage caused to President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s official car by rioters on July 9 exceeded Rs. 191 million.

Further, Additional Solicitor General Haripriya Jayasundara, who represented the Attorney General, informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage that the damage caused to the residence of the President’s younger brother Channa Nalin Wickremesinghe, by the rioters on that day was over Rs.14 million.

The police also informed the court that over Rs.20 million worth of laptop computers, cameras, and other items that were at the Temple Trees were stolen and destroyed.

When the case related to the burning of the President’s private residence, the damage to the official car and household items and the damage to his brother’s house near the President’s private residence was recalled yesterday, the Criminal Investigation Department officials submitted a report to the court showing the progress of the investigation conducted so far.

The Magistrate ordered 06 out of the 09 suspects named in connection to this incident to be remanded until the 24th of this month.
