Egyptian Ambassador invites Environment Minister to COP-27

Sept 06, Colombo: The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sri Lanka, Maged Mosleh, met the Minister of Environment, Naseer Ahamed at the Ministry of Environment yesterday (05).
The discussion was focused on the 27th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC – COP 27) to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt from November 6 to 18, 2022.
The Ambassador officially invited the Minister of Environment of Sri Lanka to the COP- 27 conference in Egypt and the Ambassador also stated that the COP organizers hope to invite President Ranil Wickramasinghe for the COP-27 Heads of State Conference.
They also discussed the possibility of sharing knowledge related to environmental activities.
Former Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi, advisor to the Minister of Environment, officials of the Ministry of Environment and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present on this occasion.
