Electricity supply, patient care services made essential services

Feb 12, Colombo: The government has declared several services that are essential to the life of the community and are likely to be impeded or interrupted as essential services.

Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath has issued the special gazette notification declaring the supply of electricity, and all service, work or labor, of any description whatsoever, necessary or required to be done in connection with the maintenance, and the reception, care feeding, and treatment, of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries, and other similar institution as essential services.

The Presidential Secretariat states that this gazette notification was issued with the intention of carrying out these services without any hindrance for the benefit of the public.
