The proposal tabled by the Ministry of Agriculture to pay an incentive of Rs. 12,500 per hectare to farmers producing and using organic fertilizer was approved by the Cabinet.
In an attempt to encourage the use, and production of organic fertilizer by licensed manufacturers, the Agriculture Ministry proposed to pay an incentive of Rs. 12,500 per hectare, not exceeding two hectares.
Accordingly, the necessary steps with regard to directing farmers to produce quality organic fertilizer sufficient for the cultivation of nearly 800,000 hectares for the upcoming Maha Season have already begun under the guidance of the Department of Agrarian Development.
