Finance Minister hopes to present an effective budget for the country and the people

Oct 30, Colombo: Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance states that he believes that he will have an opportunity to present an effective budget for the country and the people.
The Minister of Finance expressed these views while responding to media queries after visiting Kandy to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and called on the Chief Prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya and briefed them on the forthcoming budget.
The Minister said that he had come to seek the blessings of the Sacred Tooth Relic for the budget to be presented on behalf of the people of the country and hoped that he could present a good budget for the people and the country.
The debate on the Appropriation Bill for the year 2022 will be held from November 12 to December 10. The vote on the third reading of the budget will take place on December 10 at 5 p.m.
When asked about the blacklisting of the People’s Bank by Chinese Embassy, the Minister said he was not informed of the action.
Minister of Finance also said that the discussions held with the government partners regarding the Yugadanavi power plant have not been considered yet.
