Five suspects have been arrested by the Padukka Police in connection with an alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in the Padukka area.
The girl and her mother had lodged the complaint at the Padukka Police yesterday (07) over the incident that took place on September 3.
Five youths aged 19, 20, 22 and 27 have been arrested by the police based on the statement given by the girl.
Preliminary investigations revealed that she was first abused by a young man who had a romantic relationship with her. Subsequently, several of his friends had also abused the girl.
The victim is to be referred to the judicial medical officer to obtain a medical report.
