Cabinet has unanimously decided to immediately provide the financial provisions to immediately finish the Amaradewa Asapuwa, which is a tribute to late Maestro Pundit W.D. Amaradewa.
This was revealed by co-Cabinet spokesman – Dullas Alahapperuma during today’s (19) cabinet briefing.
A few weeks back, media reported that the construction of the ‘Amaradewa Asapuwa’, at the Ape Gama premises in Battaramulla, has been abandoned. It was also reported that the ashes of the renowned musician, which were to be laid at rest at the completed ‘Amaradewa Asapuwa’, lies at the Jayaratne funeral parlour for the past five years.
Talking about the issue during that week’s Cabinet briefing, minister Alahapperuma said the revelation had left him shocked and pledged to address the matter immediately.
