
Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit India again after the 16th of February.
It is said that during this visit the Finance Minister would discuss further loan relief due to be given to Sri Lanka and future Indian investments scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka.
Minister G.L. Peiris had revealed details of the proposed visit to India by the Finance Minister during his interview with The Hindu newspaper.

India will encourage the Indian private sector to invest heavily in a number of sectors, including hospitality, food processing, cement and pharmaceuticals, ”he said.
Peiris said that the Finance Minister had a special discussion with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr.S. Jaishankar three weeks ago and as per the final agreements reached, India has so far granted a loan of US $ 500 million to Sri Lanka for fuel imports.
In addition, India has agreed to defer an existing US $ 515 million exchange loan facility and to extend another US $ 1,000 million loan for the purchase of essential food and medicine.
