Government pays Rs. 2.5 mn compensation to the family of Priyantha Kumara killed in Pakistan

Jan 03, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) today (03) handed over checks worth Rs. 2.5 million to the wife and children of Priyantha Kumara who was brutally murdered in Sialkot, Pakistan.
Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Labor and Piyankara Jayaratne, State Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Market Diversification handed over the checks at the Bureau Head Office.
Secretary to the State Ministry Rohana Pushpakumara, Chairman of the Bureau Major General (Retd) Mahinda Hathurusinghe and General Manager DDP Senanayake were also present on the occasion.
Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana, who was working as export quality control manager at Rajco Industries in Sialkot (Punjab) for 10 years, was lynched to death on 3 December 2021 by a religious mob accusing him of blasphemy.
