* India ready to assist Sri Lanka’s post-pandemic economic recovery, visiting Foreign Secretary tells Sri Lanka Finance Minister

Oct 04, Colombo: Indian Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla who is on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka and his delegation called on Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Ministry of Finance this morning (04).
The two sides discussed at length facing the current world situation while further strengthening India-Sri Lanka economic and commercial ties and post-pandemic economic recovery by taking forward joint projects of mutual benefit.
The Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa appreciated India’s support to Sri Lanka as a regional power as well as a neighboring country in the face of the Coronavirus epidemic and said that he hoped to further strengthen those ties by working with mutual understanding.
The Indian Foreign Secretary told the Finance Minister that he was ready to provide assistance to uplift the Sri Lankan economy affected by the epidemic.
He said he was looking into the possibility of directing the Indian business community to Sri Lanka for investment opportunities.
Indian Deputy Foreign Secretary Nidi Chowdhury and High Commissioner Gopal Bagley were also present on the occasion. Secretary to the Ministry of Finance R. Mr. Attygalle was also present.
