India reiterates continued commitment to support Sri Lanka’s economic recovery

Sept 04, Colombo: Indian High Commissioner to Colombo Gopal Baglay has reiterated his government’s continued commitment to support Sri Lanka’s economic recovery.
Participating in the ‘Thank You India’ Event on Thursday, High Commissioner has noted that India’s ‘Neighborhood First’ policy envisions peace, prosperity and progress of all in the region.
‘Thank You India’ event was organized as a thought of extending appreciation to India for extending their undivided support to Sri Lanka during the most difficult times Sri Lanka has faced since Independence.
Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry, participating in the event stressed the point that if Indian support did not come at the pertinent time the system could have collapsed which could have been disastrous.

High Commissioner Baglay thanked Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry and other Sri Lankan friends for speaking from heart at the exceptional event brimming with spontaneity and sincerity.
“Much appreciate the thoughts of our SriLankan brothers and sisters on India’s multi-pronged support to the people of Sri Lanka,” the High Commissioner said on Twitter reiterating India’s continued commitment to be supportive of Sri Lanka’s economic recovery.
High Commissioner Baglay who called on Minister Ali Sabry on Thursday, exchanged views on enhancing mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation on the basis of goodwill and mutual trust between the two countries.
