Kegalle District Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya stated that the section between Mawanella and Kadugannawa on the Colombo-Kandy road, which was closed due to a landslide threat, will remain closed. Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Center states that steps will be taken to make the Nuwara Eliya area a disaster-free tourist zone. Its Director General retired Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe stated this while addressing the media yesterday when he visited the flood-affected areas in the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council area.
