Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has said in a Twitter message that the horrific vigilante attack on a factory in Sialkot and the burning alive of a Sri Lankan manager is a day of shame for Pakistan.
He had said that the process of arresting those involved in the incident is currently underway.
“I am overseeing the investigations and let there be no mistake, all those responsible will be punished with the full severity of the law. Arrests are in progress,” Prime Minister Khan said in his Twitter message.
Priyantha Kumara, a Sri Lankan who worked as the General Manager of Rajco Industries in Pakistan, was beaten to death by a group of employees of the same company.
The incident took place on the morning of December 3 in the Sialkot area of Pakistan.
The international media has revealed that the attacker was accused of insulting their religion.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has described the death of Priyantha Kumara, a graduate of the University of Peradeniya, as “extremely tragic”.
The Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs also stated that an investigation has been launched into the matter.
