Litro Gas today (Jan. 16) pledged before the Appeal Court to release only domestic gas approved by the Consumer Protection Authority and the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
President’s Counsel Harsha Amarasekera, appearing for Litro Gas, further stated that a sticker indicating the composition of the gases contained in a gas cylinder will be displayed on the cylinder.
The writ petition filed by Nagananda Kodithuwakku, a civil society activist, was called today.
The lawyer representing Litro Gas said that investigations had confirmed that more than 90 percent of the gas accidents reported in recent days were caused by substandard stoves and appliances.
After considering the facts presented, the Court of Appeal has announced that it will issue its orders in that regard tomorrow.
