Ministry of Justice takes first steps towards digitalization

Oct 04, Colombo: As of today, all formalities related to the Ministry of Justice would be digitalized and a digital signature would be implemented, and a committee has been appointed to overlook the digitalization of the Ministry, Justice Minister Ali Sabry said.

The use of digital signatures under the Digitalization Program of the Ministry of Justice was officially launched today (04).

Minister of Justice Ali Sabry this morning inaugurated the official use of digital signatures by digitally signing the appointment letters of a Digitalization Law Reform Advisory Committee.

The main objective of this is to provide a more efficient and effective service to the public using digital technology in carrying out duties remotely during epidemics such as Covid-19.

Digital Signature is a secure, convenient and cost-effective solution that conforms to international standards such as ISO 27001: 2013. This is accredited under Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006.

In the future, the Ministry of Justice and the courts intend to use digital signatures to deliver letters, documents, reports, etc. online to the general public in a faster and more efficient manner.

The launch of the signature was attended by Secretary to the Ministry of Justice M.M.P.K Mayadunne, Ministry of Justice Additional Secretary Thushara Suraweera, LANKACLEAR Chairman Dr. Kenneth De Silva, LANKACLEAR CEO Channa de Silva, Private Secretary to the Minister of Justice Janaka Ranatunga and other officials were also present at the occasion.
