MLTs demand govt. to suspend officials responsible for regulating private hospitals

Medical Laboratory Technicians are demanding the health ministry to immediately suspend the state officials responsible in charge of laboratory services and regulating the private sector hospitals.

Their demand comes a day after the Chinese embassy suspended the Nawaloka Hospial as the designated hospital for PCR and anti-body tests.

President of College of Medical Laboratory Science Ravi Kumudesh says the Chinese embassy’s decision has not only ruined the reputation not only the hospital concerned, but also the entire laboratory services in Sri Lanka.

He urged the government to suspend the state officials in charge  responsible in charge of laboratory services and regulating the private sector hospital

The Chinese embassy took their move after several passengers from Sri Lanka holding the negative reports of PCR and IgM anti-body tests issued by Nawaloka hospital were diagnosed as COVID-19 patients after they entered China, the embassy said in a public notice published on its website.
