Mohammad Razak Taslim, shot by Islamic extremists, rewarded Rs. 2.5 million for providing information to police

Aug 18, Colombo: A reward of Rs. 2.5 million was presented to Mohammad Razak Taslim, who was shot on the orders of Zahran Hashim, for providing factual information to the police.
Minister of Public Security, Rear Admiral (retd.) Sarath Weerasekara presented the reward money today at the Ministry to Taslim, who is paralyzed by the attack. Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security and IGP Chandana Wickramaratne were also present on the occasion.
Taslim was shot by Islamic extremists on the orders of the ringleader of the Easter Sunday attacks and suicide bomber Zahran Hashim for providing information regarding the vandalism of Buddha statues in Mawanella by Islamic terrorists.
Taslim had assisted the special police team that was deployed to investigate the vandalism and to uncover a cache of explosives hidden in a coconut estate in Wanathawilluwa, Puttalam in January 2019.
Taslim, a father of three, was a member of Mawanella town council, and also worked as the coordinating secretary for a former Minister Kabir Hashim when he was shot in March 2029, a month before the Easter Sunday attack.
