Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M. Marikkar said there is a doubt whether the delay in appointing the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) was until the new tender for 280,000 metric tons of LP gas is completed.
Speaking in Parliament during the debate on increasing the government’s revenue yesterday (21), he said the Litro Company is delaying the tender for 280,000 metric tons of LP gas citing technical issues.
“The 100,000 metric tons of LP gas imported earlier is now almost over. Gas will run out in October. Next move is to go for emergency purchases. There is a doubt whether preparations are being made for that now. They are trying to misuse Rs.3,200 million. Therefore, appoint the COPE to discuss this,” he said.
