The Department of Immigration and Emigration says that they are only capable of providing passports on an appointment basis from November onwards, after the October quota is already full.
Controller of the Passport Division – Mr. H.P. Chandralal has said that 1,000 passports are issued daily on an appointment basis.
With more people feeling compelled to get their passport of late, around 4,700 applications have been accepted on Oct. 18 alone, under the one day and normal services.
However, Mr. Chandralal says he believes the rush will slow down from November onwards.
