Oman has requested for a long-term leased land instead of interest payment with regard to a funding line of $ 3.6 billion for a period of one year to procure oil for Sri Lanka.
This was revealed during today’s (06) Cabinet briefing.
Responding to questions by the media, Co-cabinet spokesman – Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said, “In the particular Cabinet decision, there was no agreement in relation to this land claim… it is only the loan agreement that we have reached.”
“We understand that they have made such a request in relation to an allocation of a land for the investigation of oil reserves in Sri Lanka. But it was not approved by the Cabinet,” he added.
