
It is reported that all the leaders of the opposition parties have met for the second time to discuss the current situation in the country and take several decisions.
It is learned that the first meeting was held in a very secret manner on January 27 at the Cinnamon Lake Hotel in Colombo and the second was held the day before yesterday.
Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, Leader of the United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe, Leader of the Tamil National Alliance R. Sampanthan and Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Rauf Hakeem were also present at the meeting.
In addition, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs Dr. Harsha de Silva and Eran Wickramaratne and Jathika Jana Balawegaya (NPP) MP Harini Amarasuriya were also present.
Also, the special event was attended by government MPs Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Charitha Herath and Prof. Tissa Vitharana.
At this meeting, it was decided to propose to the Government to reschedule the loans after discussions with the creditors and to suggest to the Government to use some of the foreign exchange that would remain after the revision of the loans to import essential commodities for the people including fuel and medicines.
It has also been decided that the government’s social welfare measures should not be affected when formulating a program with creditors to revise loan repayment schedules.
