Specialist Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya has requested Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to change the current tax policy on the income tax imposed on doctors and other professionals.
He had made this request during a meeting with the PM at Temple Trees.
He had called for the implementation of the Mahinda Rajapaksa era tax policy instead of the Good Governance policy on levying income tax on professionals including doctors.
Padeniya pointed out that instead of the previously imposed 12% income tax, the Good Governance regime had increased it to 24%.
The Prime Minister had instructed the relevant officials to organize a discussion with the relevant parties to discuss the relevant issues.
