Petrol ship arrives, Diesel ship on the way; No fuel shortage – Uvais

A ship carrying 40,000 metric tons of diesel imported from Singapore has arrived in Sri Lanka and another oil tanker carrying 36,000 metric tons of petrol is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (18), said the Chairman of the Petroleum Storage Terminal, Mohamed Uvais Mohamed.

He has also stated that another ship carrying 40,000 metric tons of diesel is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (19).

The Chairman of the Petroleum Storage Terminal had told the ‘Mawbima’ newspaper that the unloading of 40,000 metric tons of diesel brought by the ship which arrived in Sri Lanka commenced yesterday (17) and the unloading will be completed in two days.

He noted that ships carrying fuel stocks required for the country will be arriving within the next few days.

Therefore, he said that there is no fuel shortage in the country, urging the public not to stock fuel in barrels and cans in their homes as it is unsafe.
