
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will leave for Italy next week to attend a conference at the University of Bologna. Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris stated this at a press conference held at the SLMP headquarters yesterday (6), adding that the Prime Minister has been invited to address the inaugural session at this high-level European conference.
The PM is scheduled to hold talks with the President of the European Parliament and other dignitaries during this tour.
According to reports in certain media, the PM is set to fly to Italy on the 9th of September. Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris will be joining him in this tour, which would include a visit to the Vatican.
Earlier reports stated that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would fly to the USA to address the UN Assembly, during the third week of this month.
