President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has decided to appoint a committee of three senior cabinet ministers to investigate the incident of ragging at the Ragama Medical College.
It is said that the President has further decided to remove the Chairman of the Coconut Development Authority (CDA) Keerthi Sri Weerasinghe who is alleged to have provided vehicles for the attack.
State Minister Arundika Fernando resigned from his ministry having accepted responsibility for his son’s involvement in the incident. His son is currently in remand custody.
The case related to this attack is currently being heard in court and a full investigation into the inhumane ragging incident is to be carried out by the Cabinet Committee.
