
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed that the National flag be flown at half mast in all public buildings today (9) as a mark of respect on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Secretary to the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry said it had received instructions in this regard.
Queen Elizabeth II was the Head of the Commonwealth and Queen of Ceylon from 1952-72.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the period of National Mourning will be announced subsequently.
