* President inspects Oyamaduwa and Senanayake Mawatha Organic Fertilizer Packaging Centers

Nov 17, Colombo: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa inspected the Organic Fertilizer Packaging Centers run by the Land Reforms Commission at Oyamaduwa and Senanayake Mawatha in Anuradhapura this afternoon (17).
The Land Reforms Commission produces organic fertilizer at 35 centers in the North Central Province using Water Hyacinth (Japan Jabara), Gliricidia (Albeesiya), poultry manure, dried manure and Eppawala rock phosphate are used as raw material.
The Land Reforms Commission expects to produce 50,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer for the Maha season.
Organic fertilizer packaged at 6 centers at Oyamaduwa, Senanayake Mawatha, Padaviya, Mahailluppallama, Eppawala and Thalawa, in Anuradhapura is handed over to the Commercial Fertilizer Company for distribution.
The Commercial Fertilizer Company then distributes organic fertilizer to the farming community through the Agrarian Services Department.
One metric ton of this organic manure can be applied per hectare of paddy land. Farmers will also have the opportunity to view the production activities and quality of fertilizers at the packaging centers or production centers.
The President inspected the organic fertilizer packaging centers at Oyamaduwa and Senanayake Mawatha and inspected the condition of the manufactured fertilizers.
Minister SM. Chandrasena and several others accompanied the President on these observations.
