The nominee forwarded by Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella for the post of CEO at the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), has been rejected by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, reports say.
The minister has nominated a Director of the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital – Dr. Vijith Gunasekara.
However, the President had later appointed Colonel (Dr.) Saveen Semage to the post.
Dr. Semage is currently the Deputy Director at Sri Lanka Army Preventive Medical Services and he had also been actively engaged in the islandwide Covid-19 vaccine rollout.
Meanwhile, the President has appointed Dr. D.S. Samarasinghe as the Managing Director of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC).
He had also worked in the Procurement Division of the State Ministry of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals.
