Angry remarks at Cabinet
Meanwhile it is reported that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has sternly stated that he has the power to remove anyone like State Minister Susil Premajayantha, who are criticizing the government from within its ranks.
The angry remarks had come during yesterday’s (03) Cabinet meeting, which was the first cabinet meeting of the year.
Soon after the meeting had commenced, the President had taken up the Cabinet memorandum No. 49 on the special relief package to be provided by the government.
Addressing the ministers, the President said that at a time where the government has decided to provide a relief package despite the difficult circumstances, criticism from within the government ranks instead of forging an opinion among the masses, has become advantageous to the opposition.
The President has also expressed his displeasure over the recent criticism against the government by the State minister who had even slammed the Minister of Agriculture – Mahindananda Aluthgamage, as a failure.
