Prime Minister opens new Urology and Nephrology Institute at the Colombo National Hospital

July 29, Colombo: Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday (29) declared open the new building of the Institute of Urology and Nephrology at the National Hospital in Colombo.

With the noble objective of bringing the benefits of the free health service closer to the entire people, EAM Maliban Textile (Pvt) Ltd. has constructed the three-storey building.

The cost of construction of this institute which consists of 13 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, is close to 300 million rupees.

After unveiling the plaque opening the new building, the Prime Minister joined an observation tour in the Institute of Urology and Nephrology.

The Prime Minister also had a cordial chat with Illias Abdul Kareem, Chairman, EAM Maliban Textiles (Pvt) Ltd., who made the donation.

Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Secretary to the Ministry of Health Major General Specialist Dr. SH Munasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Deputy Director General of Health Services at the National Hospital Dr. WK Wickramasinghe, Chairman of EABM Abdul Kareem and a group of officials of the company were also present at the occasion.
