A broad investigation will be conducted over the disappearance of the Sri Lanka wrestling team manager – Donald Indrawansa, who had disappeared without a trace during the World Wrestling Championships in Norway.
A media release by the ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs quotes DG of the Sports Development Department – Amal Edirisuriya as saying that a complaint has also been lodged with the Special Investigation Unit established on the provisions of the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act.
The Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation has already lodged a complaint with the CID while briefing the international Wrestling Federation and the Norway Wrestling Federation.
Legal redress will also be sought against Indrawansa after ascertaining whether the team manager had also taken the money provided for the team.
Speaking further, Mr. Edirisuriya had said that the ministry condemns this incident and in order to prevent the wrong example being set for the future generation, strict legal action would be taken against this incident after investigations.
