Apr 13, Colombo: The Sri Lankan youths protesting at the Galle Face Green in Colombo have categorically rejected the invitation extended by the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa for a discussion to resolve the political and economic crises, the country is currently facing.
The youths protesting at the Galle Face Green in Colombo say that there is no other solution to their struggle except the resignation of the President, and the whole Rajapaksa family including the Prime Minister in the government.
The Prime Minister today said he hopes to discuss the views expressed by the protesters to overcome the current challenges faced by the country and invited them to hold discussions.
The protesters in an open letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa have firmly refused to meet him or anyone of the ruling party and stressed their two main demands that the 7th executive president Gotabaya Rajapaksa should resign immediately and all Rajapaksa family members including the Premier should resign from the government.
The protesters said there will be no discussions without meeting the two conditions and vowed to continue the protest at ‘Gotago Gama’ until their demands are met as it is.
