The lotus flower carvings at the Wahalkada (frontispiece) of the main entrance to the Ruwanweli Seya stupa, which raised eyebrows, have been removed.
On Aug. 01, ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ initially revealed the appearance of previously non-existent lotus flower carvings at the Wahalkada.
It is said that these carvings closely resembled lotus flower carvings seen at a well known Temple belonging to a sect in the Kiribathgoda area, which had
provided financial assistance for renovations at the Ruwanweli Seya.
