Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says attention has been directed to issuing a separate fuel quota for three-wheelers that display fares.
Speaking in Parliament today (6), Minister Wijesekera said the fuel quota will be in addition to the quota currently being provided for three-wheelers under the QR code system.
The Minister said three-wheelers that display the fare and abide by the fare only will be granted the additional quota.
Minister WIjesekera added the measure will be enforced together with the National Transport Commission and the Ministry of Transport.
He noted that steps are being taken to identify three-wheelers operating as a profession in order to register them and provide alternatives.
