The Working Committee of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), which met under the chairmanship of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, has expressed its unanimous objection to the maintenance of a large number of ministers.
The SJB severely criticized the appointment of a large number of ministers by wasting public funds at a time when the country is going through a major economic crisis.
The SJB decided that the appointment of as many as 37 state ministers by the government in an arbitrary and immoral manner should not have happened, especially at a time when the country is bankrupt and the cost of living has skyrocketed.
The SJB MPs said the country cannot afford to maintain a large number of Cabinet ministers and state ministers at this moment, and it will further aggravate the crisis in the country.
They said the public protest against this waste of funds, as well as the appointment of many ministers in violation of the objectives of the people’s struggle, implies that the government has not changed.
