A frontline player of the Sri Lanka Army rugby team has died of a sudden heart attack during training, reports say.
Gayan Shanaka (33), who has been a frontline player for the Sri Lanka Army for more than four years, is a player who has played in all of Sri Lanka’s Premier League rugby tournaments.
He had complained of chest pain while training yesterday morning (07).
An officer attached to the Sri Lanka Army rugby team confirmed that the player passed away after being admitted to the hospital, adding that the death was not related to Covid-19
Gayan had entered the sport from Veluwana College, Colombo and represented the Gajaba Regiment in the Army Rugby team.
