A newspaper advertisement published by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) on October 24 had not only caused a notable loss to the institution but also had misled the readers of the ‘Silumina’ newspaper, reports say.
The erroneous advertisement had been with regard to the cricket match of the T20 World Cup tournament, which was scheduled to be played by the Sri Lankan team on that day.
Although Sri Lanka had played against Bangladesh on Oct. 24, the newspaper advertisement had asked listeners to tune into the SLBC’s live commentary of the match against Namibia.
Sri Lanka played against Namibia during their World Cup opener on Oct. 18.
It is said that the newspaper advertisement had cost over Rs. 216,000.
