Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Pradeshiya Sabha member Duminda Nirantha Perera has been arrested by the Kiribathgoda Police for attempting to demolish a stage set up by a group of students of the Kelaniya Students’ Union during a protest in Kiribathgoda.
Video footage showing the provincial councilor Duminda Perera attempting to demolish the stage set up by the students together with a group of persons yesterday afternoon has been circulated on social media.

Following the incident the police had instructed the students to remove the stage, but they had refused claiming that the stage has been set up in a manner that does not obstruct the public.
It is said that the suspect has been arrested and released on bail for assaulting the secretary of the Kiribathgoda General Trade Union, Cyril Pathiranage.
